Chitra Chitra Srikrishna is a graded artist of All India Radio and has been a Carnatic vocalist for over a decade. Chitra, who presently is a student of Smt. Seethalakshmi Venkatesan of Bangalore has performed widely in sabhas in Madras, Bangalore, Hyderabad and overseas in the US and Canada. She has also performed on the radio and television in India, Singapore and the USA. Chitra has trained with several Carnatic music stalwarts including Shri V. Subramaniam and Shri OS Thyagarajan of Chennai. Her detailed music bio is here.

Chitra is an avid writer, who's work has appeared in Deccan Herald, The Hindu and San Jose Mercury News. Between music, her children, their two sets of grandparents and a husband who is an entrepreneur, she has never ending source of inspiration for her first person essays, middles and the occasional travel article.

CD Launch
saranagathiChitra's latest music project Saranaagathi has been released. This and her second CD Anjaneya Aarti are now available on line here. The first CD Saranaagathi is that of three cantos from the Perumal Tirumozhi of the Divya Prabandhams - 30 verses set to different ragas in two talas. Shri Vellukudi Krishnan has provided a brief introduction to the work.

anjaneya_arathiAnjaneya Aarati The second recording is a thematic one based on songs praising Lord Hanuman. Her accompanists were Charulatha Ramanujam and Cheluvaraju - two of Bangalore's finest. Overall the entire process from working with a composer through launching the CD was a great learning experience for her - the CDs are available online here.

  • why would you want to say and I quote : " between music, her children, their two sets of grandparents and one husband" ? !!! hopefully that's understood that you have one husband, unless otherwise specified :)
